About Dr. Lindemann

Women Can Choose the Kind of Pregnancy and Delivery They Want 95 Percent of the Time

When I graduated from medical school in 1977, I was entering a healthcare system where physicians made decisions about their patient healthcare in a trusted patient-physician relationship.

Dr. Lindemann has watched corporate medicine take medical decisions out of the hands of physicians. Thirty years ago he recognized the damage this does to healthcare and wrote about it in his book Modern Medicine: What You’re Dying to Know, He continues to write about the destruction of the patient/physician relationship by corporate medicine, insurance companies, managed care, and Medicaid and Medicare and how this has caused a catastrophic increase in the U.S. maternal mortality rate in his Substack posts.

Today there are fewer and fewer patients who remember what it was like to have a primary care physician who knew them and their family well.

In his latest book, Pregnancy Your Way: Have a Safe and Happy Birth, Dr. Lindemann has provided women with the kind of information they used to get in their visits with their physician. Today, the time a physician needs to spend with a patient to develop a trusting relationship has disappeared from corporate medicine. It is not unusual for a laboring woman to be laboring in a hospital with her labor being managed by a doctor she’s never seen before. It’s the loss of a personal relationship of trust with an obstetrician who sees the patient every time she comes in for prenatal care and who oversees her delivery and postpartum care, Dr. Lindemann believes, which has driven the U.S. maternal mortality rate through the roof.

Dr.Lindemann has practiced most of his career in North Dakota, including several small towns. In his four decades as an obstetric physician, he has delivered more than 6,000 babies without any maternal mortalities. Known as Rural Doc Alan, he now focuses on making maternal health and wellness content available to women everywhere, especially those who lack access to safe pregnancy information.

Dr. Lindemann’s online press kit lists interviews and articles appearing on many well-known web sites about pregnancy and women and their families.
